Choosing & Using Technologies in Education & Training
In developing this site we have considered two elements in particular:
We have developed pathways through the site which reflect recent research on user interests and needs. We have attempted to encourage users to think about technologies in the context in which they will be used, rather than in isolation. References and reading material are grouped in contextual topic areas. The good practice content structure is based on the principles developed in a Benchmarking for Educational Effectiveness project for the Office of Training and Further Education, Victoria. This project was called From Chalkface to Interface: Developing On-line Learning.
We know that many users will want to jump from place to place in the site, and so we have provided a navigation bar on the left-hand side of the page for this purpose.
We believe this structure will be useful to people who want to browse in a casual way through the site, as well as those who prefer to follow a structured path. In addition, we have included a search facility for those who have a clear idea of what they want to find. The site map can also be used for navigation through the site.
