Choosing & Using Technologies in Education & Training
This project was commissioned by the Australian National Training Authority as part of its Flexible Delivery Implementation Plan 1997. The purpose of the project is to bring together existing work which describes the range of communications and multimedia technologies, and to provide guidelines for their use in the delivery of programs and services.
Technologies, old and new, are increasingly important in education and training. Whether you are a decision-maker or a practitioner, this site is designed to help you decide whether you need to use technology, and if so to choose the one that most suits your needs, by:
- looking at the educational and organisational context in which technologies are used
- looking at the characteristics of various technologies
- linking to current literature on the use of technologies
- finding out about relevant professional development programs
- reading about how technologies are currently being used in Australia and elsewhere
- completing checklists to help you in planning your project
