Our Toy Library is located in the shire of Mount Alexander in the centre of Victoria. We provide a collection of high quality, educational, age-appropriate and fun toys. It is our belief that imaginative and creative play are vital in childhood. All children deserve access to toys which facilitate this play. Play is a happy activity for children but it is also their work as it stimulates intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. At present, the library caters for babies, toddlers and children aged to 6 years. We have a wide selection of games, puzzles, musical instruments, sports equipment, outdoor play, ride on and construction toys. Our goal is to provide a resource of creative toys which are safe, durable, non-violent and encourage imaginative play. We are a community based, non-profit organisation operated by volunteers. The library's funding is comes from donations, grants and membership fees. Our family membership fee is $30 per year and less for concession card holders. We don't charge borrowing fees, but if you are late returning your toys there is a small fine. The library is located at the Maternal and Child Health Centre, Lyttleton Street, Castlemaine - just up from the post office. We are open every Saturday morning from 10 to 12. |
