The good ol’ stuff (anime)
Most anime clubs in Australia and the US started on the back of the classics that started coming out of Japan in the 70s and 80s. Everyone has heard of Macross (Robotech) and Space Cruiser Yamato (Starblazers) but what else was there? What made the early anime clubs go “ooohh! Neat!”

Mad scientists
Where are they? Is there anybody out there who's actually building that time machine/reanimating dead tissue/trying to bring back the dinosaurs/crossbreeding humans with animals or grappling with a "crazy" scientific theory that's so outlandish it'll probably turn out to be true? Have mad scientists been downsized? Is "ethics" getting in the way? Or is it simply a lack of funds or even a lack of imagination? After all, it was Einstein himself who said that "imagination is more important than science" so what’s happened to these mad, (and bad?) scientists?
