Here is the combined group photo, merged from three different snaps, with a little "reminiscent" flavour..... (photos at the bottom of the page include names)
Congratulations for organising an event which was fantastic. Well done to you all for all your hard work, effort and perseverance to put the night together. It was really great to see everyone again. A HUGE thankyou to you all. Robyn Taylor (Marks)
I was the first person there and the last to leave with Simon Daniell. Had a great night, I will never forget it - Dean Martin
CONGRATULATIONS TEAM, a fantastic night thanks to excellent organisation and great company. Wonderful to see so many of the teachers and to see how we have all matured. When's the next one? Meredith Harris (Iaconese) P.S. It really was a fantastic night and when I was telling everyone at school about it I actually realised that it was probably the best party I've ever been to.
Congratulations and Thankyou to the organising team. I was so impressed by the turnout given that 30 years had passed. I ws also really quite stunned by the depth of affection you former students felt towards the school. The fact that you could sing the school song (which I cannot remember having previously heard) was most impressive. I remember my time as a teacher at MHS very fondly, despite being thrown to the wolves (the 4D/E boys Maths class) as a 21 year old first year out in 1974 (Fotopoulos hasn't changed a bit!) Well Done and I look forward to the next one in 30 years time. Don Callen
It was a very pleasant evening and lovely to catch up with old friends and see all those familiar faces again.... Wonder what the next 10/20 years will bring? Looking forward to seeing everyone again and finding out! Sue McMonnies (Kantor)
It was wonderful, excellent, sensational... So much fun! Loved stepping back in time. Kerri Marshall
Heaps of thanks to you guys for organising such a brilliant night. It was unreal to catch up with everyone in such a happy relaxed atmosphere; a shame it had to end though! Thanks again. Robyn Garnham p.s. Has anyone found Gay yet? p.p.s It was great to realise that we did learn something at school. The mere mention of Mr Finnegan would evoke instant recall of the importance of the islands & lighthouses. Well Done!!! p.p.p.s Marco, Thanks again for the lift to Footscray, much appreciated!
Congratulations to all the organizing team. The night was fantastic. Didn't know I missed you all so much. 30 years have passed but the friendships picked up right where they left off. Let's keep in touch. Much affection to everyone. David Tait
Although this night was a long time coming l'm so pleased to have been able to attend. and catch up with everyone after all these years. The night was fantastic and every one was so warm and friendly just like one big happy family. Thanks again to everyone who attended and a special thanks to those who organized the night Kind Regards Suzie Szabo(Medlyn)
Just a note to thank you all for a fabulous night! Congratulations and full marks, there was a lot of stuff in there that was really at the bottom of my memory bank!!#** I had a great time. Hopefully we can keep in touch and do a repeat performance? Before the next 30 yrs! Lyn Pye (Stephens)
I was really looking forward to the night and I was not disappointed. It was like coming home and seeing so many old friendly faces (not old in the real sense!) We heard the good and the bad of our old school days, but in essence a school community is based on people within it. I feel very priviledged to have been part of a great bunch of students from Murrumbeena High School. Thankyou to Gary, Diane, Phillip, Kevin and Karen for doing all the organising - I look forward to keeping in contact with people. Hopefully, Larry you can come to the next one. P.S. In a "sick" way, Diane, I really enjoyed Mr. Draper's maths tests. Jenny King (Knott).
Hi all, Just wanted to congratulate you for organising Saturday night. It was a wonderful reunion party and a great trip down memory lane. I didn't get a chance to speak to all of you as I was trying to baby-sit a certain redhead who was somewhat outa control. But never mind. So a great big thank you to you all!!!!!!! Cheers and take care Dean Dadson (aka PORKY!!!!).
Just a note to say thank you for a tremendous night on saturday. It was really great to catch up with everyone there. Dianne, Karen, Kevin, Philip and Gary should be congratulated for an excellent effort putting such a night together. I would say it was truly appreciated by all ! Regards Simon Daniell
Thanks to you and the rest of the organising committee for a great night. You did an AMAZING job! You all deserve a pat on the back. So many stories from that time. How did Diane remember so much. Some people have long memories. I had forgotten a lot of it... and I can't believe how much stuff you still had to put on display. By the way, Sue McMonnies (Kantor) announced (and all those nearby agreed) that Sue Kenny should be voted the "most difficult to recognise". Once again, congratulations and thanks. Robyn Newell (Webster)
Just thought I send a brief note to thank you all for the great work in organising what was a fantastic night had by all last Saturday. It was unreal to catch up with many of the mates we went to school together and even better that we were all able to continue the conversation as if time had stood still for the past 30 years. Once again thank you very much and hope to keep in touch and catch up again soon. John Catanzariti
had a fantastic time - Tina Gange (Villani)
Forever young , ... I want to be forever young. It's as if someone engineered a great 70's social experiment during those High School Years and the outcome was revealed this past Saturday Night, the results were conclusive - everyone survived. The fellas have mellowed and the girls still cause a few sighs. - so much love in the room !! Set the "way-back machine" to circa '75 Thanks to all Peter McGeehan
Just wanted to add my accolades and many thanks to everyone who participated but particularly to Diane, Kevin, Philip, Karen and yourself, for all the effort and work you put in to organising our 30 Year Murrumbeena HS Reunion. It was a fantastic turn out given how long it has been and interesting to note that most people seem to have maintained contact with or knowledge of someone from their school days. It was great to catch up with people and see faces not seen for so long - some easily recognisable and others that definitely needed name tags. Good to see how many took the time to travel from interstate too! Congratulations on a great event..........see you at the next one! Greg Wood
I had an absolute ball. It was such an unpretentious affair, it was great. It seemed most people were just simply glad to catch-up and not compare. Top night! Sunday, I walked around with the view that all the people about me were merely grown up teenagers. It was a novel perspective. Thanks for the night! Rick Louder (Perkin)
After 23 years of living in NSW, I walked into the room to the chorus of "GOOOOB". I knew I was home with friends. With so much to catch up on I felt i hardly scratched the surface. One night for 6years and for some 13 meant that I'm waiting to do it all again. Thanks to all the organisers fr organising daylight saving to change to squueze in that extra hour. Next trip to Melbourne means I can catch up with more of you. Awaiting the contact details list. Paul Rowland
Hi to everyone, I am so disappointed I was unable to make it back to Melbourne for the night - it seems everyone had a great time and it was fantastic to see the photos. Maybe the next one can be held in Sydney! Wherever and whenever I do hope it's not in the too distant future. My very best wishes to everyone. Linda O'Meara
Sincere and hearty congratulations for a FANTASTIC, FASCINATING and FUNNEE night with many, MANY amazing conversations and encounters - a sensory overload of forgotten memories and emotions. i was surprised at how deeply moved I was to look into so many familiar faces, thirty years on. i'm so very grateful i cancelled my Canberra gig to come! and muchos grassy-arse for allowing my kid sis Claire along, too - she had a ball. best - MARK TREVORROW
I must admit I was a little wary at first at the thought of coming to the reunion and seeing people I hadn't seen for 30 years. I felt at the very least it would be pretty damn interesting and it certainly was that and more. I had a great time and would have loved to stay till the end but that just wasn't to be. Trying to spot people without seeing their name tags was fun and I didn't fare too well in that area. Probably only recognised around 10 or 11 people. I would definitely be there for a 40 year reunion if that goes ahead. Take care all and hope to catch up again sometime in the future. Best wishes Paul Aarons (supposedly "very quiet in school")
Need to congratulate the OC for having the inclination and spending all that time in creating such a brilliant night. Amazing how 30 years can so quickly close in after just a few hours together. And to all of you ... keep safe !! Jan Peters (Louden/Jopling) aka Penguin (and I guess I have Rick P to thank (???) for reminding me of that !!!!)"
Why do you bastards look sooooo old when I'm just a pup? I wish I could come back all those years and see you and talk to you again.... but life is soooo short.... I've been to lots of reuions and they are all GREAT but Murum High is special... I'd love to be back there in those good old days [even if they weren't so great].... I was the one who distributed the "Little Red Book" does anyone remember that?? Bt Wesh. Bob Moorhouse (check the photo at right to see whether his descriptions of his age match his teaching ability!)
Thank you to the team for a fun night. Hope to catch up with everyone again - Vikki Nankervis)
