The Coalition of Activist Lesbians-Australia,(COAL)-
History
- COAL was
formed in 1994
to work towards the end of discrimination against lesbians.
- COAL lobbies the Australian Commonwealth
and State Governments to remove discrimination
against lesbians.
- COAL is Australia's
national
lesbian advocacy orginisation and is the only United
Nations
Accredited lesbian
Non Government Organisation.
- We work with
the U.N. Convention to Eliminate all forms of Discrimination
Against Women (CEDAW) and were active at the 4th World
Conference on Women, Beijing, 1995.
- COAL has produced
training resources and research
papers which you and your workplace may be interested
in purchasing
to improve your knowledge and
understanding of the issues that
lesbians face.
- Coal is currently
lobbying for “grandfathering” of Changes to Centrelink Entitlements.
