Clockwork Contents.

What is Clockwork? In a nutshell, Clockwork is a "self help" interpretation and environmental education resource kit about biological diversity, which uses theatre as the medium. It includes an adaptable script, guidelines, props lists, photos, a curriculum unit for school based users, a public education brochure outline for parks users and more. It has been written with the overworked, budget strapped person in mind. Hey, that's you! That's why you'll find Clockwork has easily achievable production values and delivery at low cost. You'll be pleasantly surprised at just how simple the whole concept is.

The Four Stages.

Midnight A little bedtime reading. The Clockwork Magazine Of BioIdeas essays on the philosophy of biological diversity, guidelines to the program, letters to the editor, biological diversity horrorscopes and the Clockwork Camping Spot, the place where Clockwork users can virtually gather around the virtual campfire to share ideas and discoveries with other Clockworkers. Mainspring This is the heart and soul of Clockwork. An adaptable and therefore universally applicable "script" which imparts critical concepts about threatened species and habitats. It is this Script which provides your visitors, students, family and friends with the face to face experience and an understanding of bio-diversity which they will never forget. The story revolves around your "audience" becoming a "hands on" Friend's Group for the duration of their visit. It is called Mainspring because individuals, local communities, Friends Groups, etc, will surely be the mainspring, the power source of sustainability and survival. It includes ideas for simple props, costumes and other simple things designed to enable nature appreciation experiences and enhance the theatricality of environmental messages. Big Hand and Little Hand This is the Clockwork Curriculum Support material for classroom teachers. The focus of this material is called "Start a habit start a habitat!" It includes an integrated selection of understandings, ideas and activities in a loose inquiry format and across the range of science and social areas relating to bio-diversity. As with all inquiry learning it stresses action as the end result of discovery "Start a habit start a habitat!"

Little Hand - is not yet another public education brochure. This one asks some big philosophical questions in a poetic way. You can down load and use Little Hand as is, or use its text and ideas as a basis for something more specific to your corner of the planet. Cog and Spindle. This includes some general science and ecological background to the program and is broken into seven broad habitat types found in Australia. These pages are designed for those without specific science background in biological diversity. You might be a teacher, youth group leader or a bus driver. Doesn't matter where you are Hobart or Darwin, Penrith or Perth, you'll get hints about adapting the script to your local environment using Cog and Spindle and a little local research! Of course, if you're a ranger, land manager, local environment group member or otherwise well acquainted with your local ecology, you may not need this material. But have a look anyway, because you might care to add to it using the Clockwork Camping Ground
