Your Entry point to the World of Classical Music

That's all folks. The Big Golden Guitar, Tamworth, NSW

I hope that you found some good tunes to go on with in these pages. While I have tried to keep recommendations as free from personal bias as possible, it has undoubtedly snuck in. What can I say? Music is subjective!

Once you have exhausted the pieces in the lists of interest the fun begins. If a recommendation is only a movement, try out the complete work. Pursue those composers, musical genres or eras that really appealed to you. You could also have a squiz at the amazing "top 100" series of listener polls from: ABC Classic FM, for other, less individually-biased recommendations.

You will likely find good compilation discs that take the hassle out of finding many of the recommended pieces. Others will require you to go searching a little further. Try your local lending library, or specialist record shop, if you still have one... Alternatively there are virtual music shops on the web where you can hear snippets of music. Try Bigpond Music, Amazon Music or itunes.

For more information, on anything musical, try out the terrific Wikipedia and Answers.com encyclopaedias. Otherwise the ubiquitous Google search engine seems to find anything, anywhere, anytime.

My thanks go to Vicnet hosting for making available this plot of virtual land. Thanks also to my fantastic local library, the Whitehorse Manningham Regional Library Corporation, for its awesome CD collection. Finally, thanks to Paul McFedries for his Complete Idiot's Guide to Creating a Web Page (although being the idiot I am, I haven't used the half of it).

Please feel free to if you want any further information, recommendations, or if you have any comments on this site. There is a lifetime of great listening out there!
