The Society was formed in 1972 and has published it's journal, `The Cichlid Monthly' since that time as a part of its effort to disseminate knowledge about this fascinating family of fishes. This web site is a logical extension of that effort.
The Society meets on the first Wednesday of the month* in the Mitcham Scout Hall, Brunswick Road, Mitcham. Meetings commence at 8 pm, but the hall opens around 7.30 pm allowing access to the Library and Trading Table as well as an opportunity to meet people.
Meetings normally include cichlid-related presentations, Table Shows, a Trading Table and prizes. There are other regular activities including the Elaine Turner Memorial Art & Photographic Competition and an annual Home Show competition.
Other activities are organised from time to time.
