January	Chemical odour and yellow gas discharge.
"	Tullamarine. Cleanaway Industries. Locals evacuated when toxic fumes released.
February	Newmarket. Unknown chemicals found in drums at sale yards.
"	West Melbourne. Diesel fuel spill from truck.
March	Footscray. Fire in waste removal truck.
"	Werribee. Board of works cattle farm quarantined because of pesticide contamination.
April	South Melbourne. Former gas works site that had been turned into a recreation area was described by a waste management report as likely to contain significant amounts of poisonous and carcinogenic materials.
"	Maribyrnong . Diesel spill into river.
"	North Melbourne. Truck accident, 20 tonnes of ferric sulphate spilt.
May	Newport, Petrol spill.
June	Williamstown, Petroleum Refineries Australia leaks Naphtha from an underground pipeline.
July	Footscray. Chemicals found leaking from old drum in factory.
September	Laverton North. Simsmetal. Aluminium furnace exploded, killing four workers.
"	Williamstown North. Factory fire involving chemicals.
October	Footscray. Chemical spill of liquid dye.
"	Footscray. United Transport. Chemical fire toxic substances released over city. Twenty six residents reported to Kensington Community Health Centre and a further nine to from Footscray reporting a variety of symptoms associated with chemicals released during the fire.
December	Ascot Vale. Chemical spill on road of 299 litre drum.
"	Footscray. Spill of 5000 litres of Cyclohexane at factory.
"	Altona, Petroleum Refineries Australia. Release of white dust particles.
