DETAILS ABOUT THE CHOIR

Vision statement / Artistic goals: To foster a love of music and singing; to provide a structure for choristers to develop their talents in an open, friendly and supportive environment, working as part of a high standard team under a professional music teaching staff

Musical Repertoire: Wide range - popular to sacred music, meandering through gospel and spiritual, contemporary, jazz, musicals and popular choral music

Musical Director: Jayne Turner

No. of years in current post: 15

Previous musical experience: Jayne Turner has sung semi-professionally for many years with the Melbourne Chorale, Victoria Chorale and Victorian Opera Chorus; She is a music graduate of The University of Melbourne and has been working with schools for more than 20 years, including choral specialist positions and senior class music, teaching VCE and International Baccalaureate; Jayne is currently on the music staff at Presbyterian Ladies College; CHIME's founder, Kevin Casey, was also founder of the National Boys' Choir and the National Girls' Choir

Choir's past collaborations with other musical groups: 2004 Choir Olympics in Bremen (Germany); "From Concerto to Choir", a concert with the Grainger Wind Symphony orchestra; 2000 Choir Olympics in Linz (Austria); Opera in the Market 2000 and 1999, sister choir of Michaels Kammerchor (Vienna)

 

JOINING REQUIREMENTS

Audition: Yes - prospective members are invited to attend some practice sessions; auditions are then organised with the Artistic Director

Minimum Attendance policy - Rehearsals: Yes Concerts: Yes

Membership Fees: 1st term is free; thereafter $120 per half year (discounted by $10 if paid promptly)

Ability to read music: Desirable

Sight-reading ability: Desirable
