Vision statement / Artistic goals: To perpetuate the tradition of Welsh, male, four-part vocal performance; the Choir is located on the Mornington Peninsula

Voice type: All Male Singers

Choir performs: Mainly accompanied

Year Choir formed: 1973

No. of Singing Members - Currently: 40 Desired: 60

Musical Repertoire: Traditional Welsh music in 4-part harmony, sung in both Welsh and English; also a variety of modern and gospel music; about 25% of concert music is normally Welsh

Musical Director: Anne Credlin (Accompanist: Tom Buchanan, BMus(Hons); Assistant Accompanist: Lester Cheung, BMus(Hons))

Previous musical experience: BMus, Master of Education; many years of teaching music in secondary schools and directing school choral groups; former director of Yarra Valley Singers and Latrobe Chorale (Gippsland); former member of Melbourne Chorale

Choir's past collaborations with other musical groups: Victoria Police Pipe Band, Millennium Festival of Massed Male Choirs (Cardiff, 2000), several appearances on various Australian television programs, concert appearances with Tom Jones and Max Boyce

 

JOINING REQUIREMENTS

Audition: Yes - an informal vocal test

Minimum Attendance policy - Rehearsals: Yes Concerts: Yes

Membership Fees: $80 p.a.

Ability to read music: Desirable, but not essential

Sight-reading ability: Not necessary - gained on the job!

 

REHEARSAL ARRANGEMENTS

Av. No. of rehearsals/week: 1, + 1 sectional rehearsal per fortnight

Usual rehearsal night(s): Monday and Thursday
