Brigade Resources

Buildings

The Brigade has two station buildings.

In Christmas Hills on the main Eltham-Yarra Glen Road, opposite One Tree Hill Road (Melway map reference: 266, H11)
In the Bend of Islands at 6 Catani Boulevard (Melway map reference: 24, K1), just near the northern intersection of Catani Boulevard with Henley Road.

Each shed houses a 4 x 4 Tanker. The Catani Boulevard shed houses our radio and meeting rooms.

Tankers

The Brigade has three four-wheel drive tankers, one being an ultra-light tanker.

Christmas Hills Tanker 1 is an Isuzu unit with a 2000 litre water tank.

Christmas Hills Tanker 2 is a Hino unit with a 3000 litre water tank.

Christmas Hills Tanker 3 is a Nissan unit with a 500 litre water tank.

The picture to the right shows Christmas Hills Tanker 2 on the day on which it was handed over to the Brigade at the Catani Boulevarde station. The occasion was one of the Saturday coffee mornings.

Other Equipment

The Brigade owns a small trailer (call sign 'Christmas Hills Quickfill') that carries a high capacity pump and the associated hoses and other minor equipment that allow for drafting (getting water from a low level supply such as a dam) and relay pumping (passing on water from one tanker to another).

Each tanker has a portable pump, a chain saw and other standard equipment such as knapsack sprays and Macleod tools ('rakehoes').

Tankers 1 and 2 carry breathing apparatus (BA) equipment for use in building and car fires where firefighters are exposed to dangerous fumes.
