Fire Prevention
The Christmas Hills Fire Brigade regards minimisation of loss and damage from fire as its main role. This encompasses not only fire prevention but the continuing education of members of the community about ways they can reduce the risk of fire and what they can do in case of fire.
Better understanding of the nature of fires can lead to better decisions about living in a rural urban area where the likelihood of fire is real and the concentration of population presents a risk.
- We have continued to provide useful information about fire behaviour.
- We have been at pains to dispel a number of popular myths about bushfire behaviour.
- We have given householders information on which to base decisions on fire prevention measures in and around their homes
- We have given householders information on which to base decisions about whether or not to stay at home on a 'bad fire day'
- We have given householders information on which to plan their actions immediately before, during and after a bushfire.
