The Melbourne Chess Club is ideally located in the center of Fitzroy, with easy access from the Eastern and South Eastern Freeways. If coming along the Eastern Freeway you go straight down Alexandra Parade at the end of the freeway, go left at Brunswick Street, and turn right at the third street, which is Leicester Street. The building is found on the first corner which is Fitzroy Street.
If coming from the South Eastern Freeway, get off at Punt Road, and follow down to Johnson Street. At Johnston Street turn left , and follow till the 5th set of lights which is Brunswick Street. Turn Right at Brunswick Street, and follow until after the pedestrian lights, and the next street is Leicester Street, turn left. The building is found on the first corner which is Fitzroy Street.
If you are traveling on Public Transport, the Yarra City Trams 11(West Preston)) and 96(East Brunswick) both service this route. The 11 travels from Collins Street in the CBD, and takes a path down Brunswick Street. This tram will let you off at the pedestrian lights just near Leicester Street. This stop is the first after Johnson Street. The 96 travels from Bourke Street in the CBD, and takes a path down Johnson Street. This tram will let you off at the pedestrian lights just near Leicester Street. This stop is the second stop Johnson Street.
The club is a 15 minute walk from Parliament station, though you can alternatively catch a tram fom near Parliament station.
