ACCREDITED COMPUTER TRAINING

Certificate in Information Technology (ICA10101)

This assessable course has been designed especially for beginners, job seekers, self taught computer users or those wanting to advance their computing skills.  Covers all the basics in modern personal computer use:  understanding and care of a computer system; using Windows (saving and retrieving files from folders); accessing and using internet and email. 

This nationally recognised and certified course teaches students how to successfully operate four of the most popular business software applications in use today with MS Office 2000: word processing (MS Word); spreadsheets (Excel); database (Access) and presentations (Powerpoint) 

Includes all six units from the Certificate I in Information Technology:

ICAITU129A Operate a word processing application
ICAITU133A Send and retrieve information over the internet using browsers and email
ICAITU130A  Operate a spreadsheet application
ICAITU131A  Operate a database application

Times/Dates

Complete the full course in 3 months by attending 2 full days per week:

Tuesday & Thursday 9.30 am - 3 pm, 12 weeks

starting 17th February (code 01)

 

Tuesday & Thursday 9.30 am - 3 pm, 12 weeks

starting 25th May (code 02)

 

Or attend one night per week for the full year on a Thursday. 

Start with the 3 introductory units during semester 1 (Code 03)

and follow up with the remain 3 units during semester 2.

 

Pre-requisite: access to a computer for homework assignments, revisions, assessments.
Courses delivered by Longbeach PLACE Inc. in partnership with Chisholm Institute.
Deposit of $50 will be accepted to reserve a place until full fees are due, (please speak to programming staff if fees need to be paid in installments).
Students with a health care card in the family are required to provide a copy of the card.
  Initial TAFE registration fee is optional ($25) which provides full TAFE student benefits.
Longbeach PLACE annual membership fee of $10 applies.
To assist students in their learning, self paced sessions are available.

Cost from $80 for 2 unit blocks

Are you currently studying or have you completed Certificate I in Information Technology.  Why not upgrade to Certificate II by attending some extra sessions?  Also useful for computer users looking to increase their knowledge in multimedia areas.  Prerequisite: computer skills including file management. Notes provided.  The following modules will be available during the year,  Using a Digital Camera - use class camera or your own;  Incorporating digital images into multimedia presentations - using images in documents, presentations, etc;  Identify Components of Multimedia – sounds, graphics and images;  Operate Computer Hardware - keyboarding, scanning, hardware;  Apply Occupational Health and Safety - core module of IT courses;  Create HTML –coding behind webpages;  Accessing the Internet – learn how to create your own webpages;  Use Advanced Features of Computer Applications – integration of advanced Word, Excel, Access and others;  Communicate in the Workplace - working in an IT environment
