The plants are listed according to the order of arrangement found in the "Flora of Melbourne", with botanical names taken from "A Census of the Vascular Plants of Victoria" by J.H.Ross (2003). To download the plant list, click this link.
Background
A table of plant lists for the Ferntree Gully Unit of the Dandenong Ranges National Park was prepared by Gordon Carter (Chandler Hill Parkcare Group) in 2002. The table was compiled from the following lists:
| FTG72 | "The Vegetation of Ferntree Gully National Park" compiled by D.L. & B.E.Jones (compiled 1968-1972). |
| FTG80 | Ferntree Gully National Park: plant list. An updated version (1980) of the 1972 list. |
| FTG95 | Alphabetical list for Ferntree Gully National Park as at August 1995 (compiler unknown). |
| CH01 | Indigenous plants found in the Chandlers Hill area of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. |
| GL98 | A survey and management strategy for "Significant Vegetation of Roadsides in Knox" by Graeme S. Lorimer 1998. A plant list was extracted from this report from roads that bordered the Ferntree Gully unit of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. |
| Note 1 |
Listing in Flora of Melbourne duplicates the FTG72 and FTG80 lists, except in 2 cases and therefore was not used as an independent source.
|
| Note 2 | Alien species recorded in three of the lists have not been included, neither have hepatics, mosses, lichen and fungi which were recorded in two of the lists. |
Another table was compiled of plants omitted from the final list with comments on reasons for omission. This table will be used as a basis for further study. When the identity of a plant has been authenticated it will be added to the main list. This list is not regarded as being “set in stone” and additions/deletions may occur from time to time.
