Welcome to the Castlemaine Field Naturalists Club web site.

Members. The Club has about 100 members. Some members have specialist knowledge. Others are beginners. All members have an interest in nature and the natural world.

Meetings are held on the second Friday of each month (Feb-Dec) at 8.00 pm, in the Uniting Church hall, Lyttleton St, Castlemaine. The meeting usually has a guest speaker who deals with some topic of natural history. Visitors are welcome to attend meetings or excursions.

Excursions are held monthly, usually on the Saturday after the monthly meeting. Additional excursions are held from time to time. Excursions may be full day or afternoon excursions.

The newsletter "The Castlemaine Naturalist" is published monthly, and posted to members.

S.E. Australian Naturalists' Association. Members may also attend meetings of the Association. The meetings are held twice a year over a weekend or longer. These meetings include a program of speakers and excursions.

The Castlemaine Field Naturalists Club was formed in 1976, at a public meeting called by Mr Ray Bradfield. Inaugural office bearers were Ray Bradfield (president), Rita Mills (secretary) and Lloyd Bransgrove (treasurer).
