WHAT ARE THE INSTITUTE AIMS?
To provide a professional body for the study of the roles and functions of emergency services and counter disaster organisations throughout Australia and the promotion and advancement of professional standards in these and associated services.

THE INSTITUTE'S DETAILED OBJECTIVES ARE:
- To raise the status and advance the interests of the profession of Counter Disaster Services Administration.
- To represent generally the views and interests of the profession and to promote a high standard of integrity and efficiency in the skills of Counter Disaster Services Administration.
- To provide the opportunities for association amongst members and students and to promote and protect their mutual interest.
- To facilitate full interchange of concepts and techniques amongst members.
- To bring to notice of the public such matters as may be deemed inportant for the safety and protection of the community.
- To promote research and development of emergency services generally.
- To establish divisions of the Institute in any State or Territory of Australia.
- To apply, petion for or promote and to join any other professional institute or body in promoting any act of Parliament, Royal Charter or other authority with the view of attainment of any of these objects.

WHO CAN JOIN?
Applications for membership will be considered from:
- Volunteer members of emergency services with a minimum of four (4) years experiance as an emergency services officer.
- Permanent emergency service officers with a minimum of two (2) years experiance.
- Applicants must be at least 23 years of age.
- Admission as a member may be granted if in the opinion of General Council the applicant meets all other conditions of membership and passes such examinations and/or other tests as required by Council.

- Life - Fellows
Persons may be granted affilliation with the Institute in the following categories:
- Associates
- Honorary Members
- Student Members
- Retired Members
