Borrowing
Borrowing Entitlements
Every child who is a member of the Caulfield Community Toy Library is entitled to borrow 3 items limited to a maximum of 1 large item, for up to 3 weeks. On top of the 3 items, each child is allowed 1 extra video, tape/CD book or puzzle. Please check that you have all the pieces and/or accessories of your selected toys before leaving the Toy Library. Toys cannot be re-borrowed by the same member on the date of return.
Baby Section (Up to 20 months)
- Any 2 different sized Baby Section items
- 1 item from either Music Instruments, Hammering, Stacking, Sorting, Shapes, Blocks, Bath Toys, Puzzles, Music CD or Video
General Borrowing (from 21 months up)
- 1 large item with accessories OR 1 toy in a plastic tub OR 1 large plastic bag toy
- 1 medium sized item in a plastic bag OR 1 costume OR 1 puzzle
- 1 video OR Tape/CD Book OR puzzle
Please note that toys cannot be returned within the last 10 minutes of any borrowing / returns session.
If toys are returned late, overdue fees will be charged to members. All toys should be returned in the same condition that they are borrowed, so please take care. Please ensure all toys are returned clean by wiping each part before replacing them in their plastic bag / tub. All toys must be returned with the plastic bag / tub they were borrowed with. If any plastic bags / tubs are damaged or broken a fine will be charged. Please avoid fully immersing toys in water as this often causes stickers to come off and can cause some parts to rust. Baby toys may need to be cleaned with disinfectant before being returned.
Please rewind all videos. If you find that any video is unclear please let the Session Co-ordinator know when you return it. Some videos may not play properly on some video recorders because of "dirty heads". If it's consistently reported that a video does not play properly it will be removed from the library.
Missing Toys / Pieces
Every effort should be made to return all pieces of any borrowed toys. The Toy Library will accept borrowed toys back provided any missing pieces do not affect the ability of the toys to be re-borrowed. A note will be recorded against any members who return toys with any missing pieces. Members will be given 2 weeks to find the missing pieces and return them to the Toy Library. If toys cannot be re-borrowed because of any missing pieces, overdue fees will be charged on the toys until the missing pieces are found. If the pieces cannot be found the Repairs Co-ordinator and committee will decide on an appropriate fine.
Members must not substitute parts to any toys without the Session Co-ordinators consent. Failure to comply could result in memberships being terminated.
Broken Toys
Please do not attempt to repair damaged / broken toys yourself. The Toy Library can usually obtain replacement parts for toys from the manufacturer or retailer. If a toy is damaged / lost, the committee will decide whether a fine will be charged to the member who damaged / lost the borrowed toy.
