In the ringer’s room, the following notice appears.

This bell was presented to the parish by John Grice Esq., of Bootle, Cumberland, England, accompanied with the following requirement, to be exposed in the ringer’s room: |

1st |
That all who hear its call to worship may attend the summons if they can. | |

2nd |
That every Saturday night at sunset the bell be tolled, to remind the parish that the week of labour is gone and rest-day cometh. | |
|
3rd |
That the departing year be tolled out at midnight of December 31st, to tell that one year less remains to all. | |

On the bell is found the manufacturer’s name and the date of casting:
