Picnic and BBQ on an Island Mordialloc Motor Sailing Club, 4 February 2001
Sunday 4th February was the date of one of our popular summer social events, the barbecue picnic on the island at Mordialloc Motor Sailing Club.
We were extremely fortunate that the weather was a lot more bearable than we had experienced earlier in that week. Even so, the forecast was for 24 deg. with occasional drizzle, which was not ideal for an outdoors event. This probably accounted for a much smaller attendance than the previous year. Those in attendance however, threw themselves into the picnic spirit, trotting out the culinary goodies from bags, baskets and eskies.
Even before the savoury smells of grilling filled the air, alas, down came the rain in buckets and there was a great scurry to take refuge in the Sailing Club clubhouse. Once under shelter the food, wine, general good conversation and much hilarity continued on. I think all who attended had a very enjoyable time.
We hope this event will be held again next year, and that the turnout will be much better. It is a very special venue, peaceful but very easy to get to with lovely views out to sea. It is always fun and inspiring to meet other artists in your society. Thank you to Kathe Bibi Ostermark for organising this great day, and as a member of the Mordialloc Motor Sailing Club, making it possible.
