The tradition of small-format pictures

In the tradition of many artists, such as Australian painter Frederick McCubbin (who painted small works on cigar-box lids), the Society has established a small format for the works in its National Touring Exhibition -- but our size is 9 by 12 inches.

The works' compact size means the show can literally fit into a few suitcases for transport -- the method used in the last travelling show three years ago. The current show, however, with 212 works, is travelling in sturdy custom-made crates built and carried by the principal sponsor for the show, Grace Fine Art...

The last touring exhibition opened at Steps Gallery in Carlton Melbourne (Victoria) on 27th July 1999 -- over 200 art-lovers attended the opening. The show toured over 17,000 km all around Australia, returning to Melbourne in mid 2000. What a journey! (itinerary below)
