Judy Hawking-Burnett
www.users.bigpond.com/hawking.burnett
I come from the small town of Beechworth, nestled in the hills of North Eastern Victoria. My love for art and landscape painting evolved in Beechworth as a child, drawing inspiration from the beautiful surrounds. This passion developed further through childhood family holidays, then through my travels within Australia and overseas. I use photography and drawings as a foundation to paint my experiences, creating art through the colors, shapes and forms in the landscape. I also enjoy painting nudes and figures. I draw the model from life, then transform into paint at my studio. Over the years I have worked with many mediums including oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, pencil, clay, wood and photography, but more recently I have been concentrating on acrylics painted on canvas and on paper. My work is sometimes quite abstract or an "impression" of the subject matter. My main painting influences are Fred Williams and Jackson Pollock. I am also very passionate about the work of Paul Gauguin and Amedeo Modigliani. I do commissioned artworks upon request. I work from life, mental images and from photographs.
