The Society is a non-profit organisation, run by artists for artists and those interested in the arts. It is based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and was founded in 1938.
The Society's primary aims include the fostering and promotion of contemporary art, to further the understanding of it, and to encourage and stimulate artists.
If you are a contemporary artist who would like to exhibit your work, or an art-lover interested in exhibitions of contemporary art works, you may be interested to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member or associate ('friend') of the The Contemporary Art Society of Victoria Inc (you can download Membership Application FORMS from this page also.)

The Society's first exhibition in the New Year shows from 25th February to 13th March at the Herring Island Gallery. This exhibibition will be part of the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival: artists from CAS and three other leading Melbourne-based arts organizations will show their work in the gallery on the Island, reawakening of the original concept of an arts venue in a bushland setting close to the heart of Melbourne. Click here for more information on our NEW website. Art at Burnley Harbour (3-4 December) was a great sucess with 480 artworks by 150 artists on show, and 100's of visitors with good sales! |
