Artist Statement
The two paintings I have entered
feature the use of a photographic background printed on metallic
paper. This surface is overpainted with oil paints in single
strokes.
The paintings are from a series
entitled "Interference".
These works represent an ongoing
use of mechanical surfaces used in combination with "Hand Painted"
overlays. The photographic image uses magnification of the Television
screen to go into the structure of static electrical energy in the
grid that is the screen. The painted brushstrokes are a distillation
of thoughts and feelings on walking the streets of London, my
ancestral home.
The essence of the works is power,
both mechanical and natural, being the conduit of our
existence.
The
Contemporary Art Society of Victoria (Inc.) is a non-profit
organisation, run on a voluntary basis by artists, for artists, and
the Society has a long history of supporting and fostering artists -
particularly emerging artists and those from regional
Australia.
