Artist Statement

The two paintings I have entered feature the use of a photographic background printed on metallic paper. This surface is overpainted with oil paints in single strokes.

The paintings are from a series entitled "Interference".

These works represent an ongoing use of mechanical surfaces used in combination with "Hand Painted" overlays. The photographic image uses magnification of the Television screen to go into the structure of static electrical energy in the grid that is the screen. The painted brushstrokes are a distillation of thoughts and feelings on walking the streets of London, my ancestral home.

The essence of the works is power, both mechanical and natural, being the conduit of our existence.

The Contemporary Art Society of Victoria (Inc.) is a non-profit organisation, run on a voluntary basis by artists, for artists, and the Society has a long history of supporting and fostering artists - particularly emerging artists and those from regional Australia.
