Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved to Australia in 1987.
Nationality: Argentinean- Australian.
As a child, Cristina experienced the mesmerizing world of theatre, introducing her to the colours and textures of the costumes worn by her eldest sister, who is an Opera singer.
She was fascinated by the drama and the magic of music and light, and for the first time the exotic beauty of the east in "Madame Butterfly".
In her teens Cristina moved to New York to study fashion design, returning to Argentina after 6 years; and continued to be stimulated travelling extensively throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia. She worked as an interpreter at the Australian Embassy in Buenos Aires before coming to Australia in 1987.
Being a professional Designer - Couturier, she created hand printed lengths of silk for her "One Off" designs and specialised in Bridal and Evening Gowns. Her abilities and creativity have been recognised by the "Australian Gown of the Year" receiving special awards, and being a finalist for several years in different categories. She has also been a finalist in "Fashion's on the Field" at Flemington, during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
In 1998 she travelled to Japan for a silk painting workshop in Kyoto, and visited one of the "Masters of Kyoto" whom she meet the previous year at a Daimaru Exhibition.
Her love for Japanese art and culture and the possibility of pursuing her artistic passion were awakened after the horrific events of September 11, inspiring her to create a major work depicting the tragedy.
She has been fortunate to attend classes and workshops with some of Australia's and Japan's highly respected artists (e.g. Sara Tomasetti, Harry Nankin, Lewis Miller, Prue Flint, Tim Jones, Richard Stringer, Chris Pittard and Ailsa Brooks.)
Cristina has travelled extensively throughout North & South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. In 2002 Cristina started showing and selling her work at Melbourne art shows and joined the Hawthorn Artists' Society.
