CARMEN NOVOA

Carmen Novoa was born in Montevideo Uruguay, were she studied plastic art. She continues to study art at the Hunt Club Art Centre under Robert Magnion.

Carmen is currently the Co-ordinator of the Spanish and Latin American Artists of Melbourne.

One of the highlights of Carmen's career was to be the first to hold an art exhibition at the Parliament House in 2002, then again in 2004.

Carmen also Co-ordinates the art exhibition at the Johnston Street "Fiesta" every year in the Spanish Club.

Carmen has written a book titled Evasion/Evasion which is a bilingual publication of poems in English and Spanish, a few of which have earned her literary awards in Australia and Uruguay.

Some of the art exhibitions co-ordinated by Carmen involve poetry reading at the opening and closing of the events.

The Pablo Neruda Festival in 2004 during the month of June, played host to one of Carmen's largest art exhibitions.


The Contemporary Art Society of Victoria (Inc.) is a non-profit organisation, run on a voluntary basis by artists, for artists, and the Society has a long history of supporting and fostering artists - particularly emerging artists and those from regional Australia.
