Biography:

Karyn Fendley's abstract canvases reveal her continued preoccupation with nature. Fendley showed artistic talent as a child. She began art lessons when she was eight, painting the bushland surrounding her family home. Fendley's work since has explored many avenues. She has developed an original style which is spare, controlled, rich in colour and texture.

Following formal studies at the Queensland College of Art, Fendley worked as a designer for an international design company. The discipline of this experience, combined with ongoing private studies and travel throughout Australia, Europe and Asia, has provided her a comprehensive visual art education.

Diverse natural landscapes inspired her first solo exhibition in 1993. Since then she has devoted herself to painting, exhibiting, and travel. Fendley now lives and works in Byron Bay, Australia. Her work is housed in public and private collections worldwide. To view her artwork visit her website.

Artist statement: "Looking closely at nature, one can observe that every natural pattern of growth, movement or structure, conforms to a fixed vocabulary of shape and pattern of repetition. This relationship between diverse natural forms has become the dominant theme and inspiration of my work."
