It's my challenge and privilege to design new forms, mix new colours and create rich layers and surfaces. Abstract forms with hints of the real world inspire and motivate me. Still life forms, found in every comer of the studio and elements of the landscape and seascape have always played a role in my paintings and drawings.
I have travelled widely and know that my ten years at sea, living and working on sailing boats, will influence much of my work The series of "Sea Stories" was directly inspired by the thousands of miles voyaging at sea.
For thirty years I've collected other artists' paintings and sculpture to enjoy living with, and to learn from. It's also a constant reminder that we will never "arrive" or think that the battle has been won. I can identify with the description of art creation as a "difficult pleasure" and happily take up this challenge from day to day.
It's important for me to be involved with and to support my local art groups and galleries, and to interact with interesting and challenging people.
After many years working professionally in Fine Art Restoration and Graphic Design, life is devoted to painting and drawing, visiting exhibitions, studying our Old and New Masters and the world around me.
I am a graduate of TAFE in New south Wales, the University of Technology Sydney and the ANU College of Art in Canberra.
