SARA BOWERS

In 2000 I received my B.A. in Art/Graphic Design from Seattle Pacific University. Also in 2000, I concluded a simultaneous diploma course in Desktop Production from the Art Institute of Seattle. For the past 3 plus years, I have been Managing Graphic Designer of a freelance Graphic Design studio, studio8design.com, originally based in San Francisco and now, Melbourne. Shortly after my move to Australia, I enrolled in Photography Studies College to further expand my knowledge and love of Photography. Since then I have continued my Graphic Design career but have been meanwhile exhibiting my Photography.

I also have a huge love for fine art and illustration and I think that my original background in drawing and painting is an integral part of all of my work. In my art, I strive to identify basic human needs and desires and visually explain or reinterpret them, sometimes subtly, other times vividly. The "medium is the message" series talks about society's need for constant media stimulation, and the blinding effects of that obsession.

The Contemporary Art Society of Victoria (Inc.) is a non-profit organisation, run on a voluntary basis by artists, for artists, and the Society has a long history of supporting and fostering artists - particularly emerging artists and those from regional Australia.
