Anne-Christine.jpg (16654 bytes)

Mary Konior's "Large Cross" again, but done in overdyed size 60 DMC cordonnet special.  I received this in an exchange from Anne-Christine in Sweden.  I've tried my own dye experiments since, but none have worked as spectacularly as this.  =)

valdanibluegreen.jpg (27724 bytes)

"Black Magic" in size 12 Valdani perle cotton ( colour M30 ).  The cotton is made in Romania.  Not as tight/smooth as DMC size 12 perle, but I didn't have too many problems.  They have some faaaaantastic colour combinations though!  Got this from "sewthankful".

smallceltic.jpg (23117 bytes)

This is a variation of the "Celtic Cross Bookmark" in Rozella Linden's book "Celtic Tatting - Knots and Patterns".  This is in the Valdani thread again

silk 001.jpg (24760 bytes)

This is done in size 12 Anchor perle cotton (colour 1345)

The pattern can be found at http://www.paradisetreasures.com/sabms.html

antique_violet.jpg (22406 bytes)

12/2/05 - "Black Magic" in overdyed size 40 DMC Cebelia.  The colour is "Antique Violet", and the dye is one of those microwave fixing ones.  Probably not 100% colourfast (I'm impatient), but very pretty.

silk.jpg (29449 bytes)

12/2/05 - "Black Magic Cross"  done is a silk thread.  The pattern is available at http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2001/magic.html

Amy.jpg (14881 bytes)

12/2/05 - This is made from Opera (Coats) size 20.  This is thread I got in an exchange from Amy O'Malley some time ago.  I can't remember the pattern just now, but it's a variation on an edging in a book... somewhere....

The bookmarks in the table below are all the "Black Magic" pattern from Mary Konior's book "Tatting with Visual Patterns".  My favourite bookmark pattern.  I tend to use it on exchange threads I get.  Combined with another colour it's usually enough for a decent size bookmark.

guterman.jpg (17091 bytes)

This is the Black Magic bookmark in Guterman S303 silk - finer than size 100.  This bookmark is rather small.

needle.jpg (26672 bytes)

My first attempt at a needletatted bookmark.  Bear in mind I'm not as practiced at this when you make comparisons!

Done in size 20 DMC Cebelia.

man204too.jpg (17380 bytes)

Totally Manuela 204 - finally bought a stack of this!

Man204.jpg (21546 bytes)

This one uses DMC Cebelia no. 747 for the chain thread, and Manuela no. 204 for the rings.  The Manuela was an exchange thread from Tatman (Mark Myers).

myart.jpg (26247 bytes)

Using some positively ancient cotton I scored out of my Grandmother's stash... It's "Myart mercerised cotton size 20 - Made in Japan".  One or two mild discolouration spots, but nothing that won't wash out ( hopefully )....Feels a bit bigger than 20, but not quite a 10. (15? )

Not bad, eh?  =)

Thread Gatherer(Berry Spritz).jpg (18145 bytes)

4 strands of "The Thread Gatherer" thread (Berry Spritz).  Ran out at the end, so there's a little bit of DMC size 5 3685 here too....

A few mistakes, but worth displaying for the colours.....=)

from Linda's thread.jpg (20823 bytes)

Size 20 Manuela thread ( don't know the number ) and size 20 white DMC Cebelia cotton.  The Manuela thread came from Linda Moody in an e-tatters thread exchange.

from Hilari's thread.jpg (16910 bytes)

Size 20 Manuela ( again, don't know the number ) and size 20 white DMC Cebelia cotton.  The Manuela thread came from Hilari in an e-tatters thread exchange.

from Noelene's thread.jpg (23955 bytes)

Some Turkish thread ( Altin Basak ) given to me by Noelene Lafferty.

for Jenny.jpg (10544 bytes)

Size 12 DMC perle cotton - white and a bronzey-red ( no. 356 ).  Given to a friend to make up for lack of letter-writing on my behalf.   =)

Some cross bookmarks....

small cross.jpg (43637 bytes)

The "Small Cross" from

Mary Konior's "

Large Cross.jpg (10801 bytes)

Tatting with Visual Patterns".  Size 12 DMC perle cotton.

barbtozzano.jpg (21832 bytes)

This is the "Hen and Chicks" cross by Barbara Tozzano,

from the TatChat pages.  Size 8 Perle cotton.

The pattern is available for personal use only at http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/vangogh/235/crosses/eliz2cross.html

Very simple pattern, very nice effect.  =)

Various other bookmark patterns.

clover.jpg (18002 bytes)

Based on Mary Konior's "Clover" edging.

Size 80 DMC.  Don't know what colour blue though, I've lost the tag.

doodle.jpg (28943 bytes)

Just a doodle bookmark.  Made from "Lola" 100% Rayon, number 058.

theposs.jpg (20447 bytes)

Jules Patterson's dimpled ring bookmark, published in the NSW tatting guild's newsletter.  Told you I'd put it here, Jules!  =)

Done in size 8 DMC perle cotton.

Kimmillar.jpg (17234 bytes)

The Spanish Bookmark from Kim Millar's pages.  Used to be at http://www.crosswinds.net/~dockim/spanishb.html, but the link seems to have died.

Done in size 8 DMC perle cotton.

from Pearl's thread.jpg (18220 bytes)

This one is modified from "Medallion no. 1" on page 21 of "Tatting Doilies and Edgings" edited by Rita Weiss.  Size 20 white DMC Cebelia and another Manuela thread ( 202 I think).  This Manuela came from Pearl Maish in another e-tatters thread exchange.

for Helen.jpg (20463 bytes)

My lucky cousin got these two for Christmas 2000.    =)

The multicoloured one is good ol' size 20 white DMC again ( my favourite mixer ), and size 20 Coats Mercer crochet cotton no.9427.  It's based on the "Clover" edging by Mary Konior on page 36 of "Tatting with Visual Patterns"

The blue one is totally original and a real cotton mish-mash.... The lighter blue centre flowers are size 20 DMC Cebelia ( colours 799 and 800 ), the dark blue flowers are a Hungarian made size 20 cotton (Sullivan's) Mum found somewhere many years ago.  ( There's a Sullivan's make crochet cotton in Australia too. This one isn't theirs. ) Lucky last, the edge and fringe is Coats Mercer cotton size 40 ( colour 893-E ).

So much for plain old "blue" cotton.  =)
