Found through out the eastern states of Australia and
also in NPG and NZ.
A fast growing shrub 1-3m x 1- 4m.
Large dark green lobed leaves.
Violet flowers from spring through autumn followed by fruits
which are scarlet when ripe.
Can be used as a "fill-in" plant whilst waiting for other
species to develop at which time can be removed.
A good screening shrub
which can become straggly but will regenerate after pruning.
Aborigines ate very ripe fruit.
