Native Australia wide except for NT & WA.
A hardy, perennial, rhizomatous herb which grows
into a thick clump.
There are separate male and female plants.
Leaves are bright green and strap-like and taller than the flowering
stem.
A yellow, scented, clustered flower head is followed by brown seed
capsules which remain of the plant for most of the year.
Propagation by seed or clump division.
The aborigines used fibre from the leaves to make baskets.
