Actinotus helianthii - Flannel Flower
Asteraceae

A small bushy annual from NSW and Queensland, ideally suited to terraced rockeries which provide the necessary drainage.  This plant can grow to a height of 60cm  (more often 30cm in Victoria) with one or more erect stems.  Lower stems bear divided grey, woolly leaves while the upper are leafless.
The flower is the massed central head composed of many tiny, white, green throated florets surrounded by white petal-like bracts that resemble flannel in texture.
Flowers occur from September to December, although the further south they are grown, the later the flowering time.
Propagation is by seed.
