CITY CIRCLE TRAM RIDE

On Wednesday the 3rd of March , the RAW class went on a trip around Melbourne on the City Circle tram.
While on the tram a recording named places of interest, like the oldest hotel in Melbourne, Custom House, Banana alley, where the tall sailing ships berthed and Victoria market, where Flinders Street Railway Station is at present. (Kevin)

The best thing on the City Circle Tram is that it is like a moving information office and you can get to see things that interest you and they give you a full description of all the history of Melbourne and Heritage buildings and walking places.
Some of us sat together on the tram and some of us talked to the tourists and that was good to see the tourists mix with the Melbourne people. (Rosie)

We went to Swanston Street to the State Library but before we went in to the Library we had some drinks and coffee at Melbourne Central.
The class went to the Library to see photos of the last “Connies” by Neale Duckworth. The photos were about the Connies doing their work on the trams. There were around 50 photos hanging on the walls and in cupboards. (Jim)

I could see the big loss of not having the conductors on the trams through the pictures, it showed on the people’s faces.
It is important that we have a good, fast, money-making service but it forgets the personal and friendly service of the conductors.  (David)

A SHORT STORY
IN 55 WORDS OR LESS

Kevin’s challenge was to write a short story using 55 words or less. We read some examples from the Herald Sun and then had a go at composing our own. This is James Wilson’s that we sent to the Herald Sun for publishing.

SMILING EYES
I heard a squeal of wheels!
It hit me in the back of the legs. In shocking pain I turned.
I saw a female driver with blue eyes and a big smile on her face. She looked at me and laughed.
I smiled to see my grand-dadughter pushing her red trolley away.
