Anne is the part-time Education Program Co-ordinator at Carlton Contact Neighbourhood House and she works 29 hours per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Anne has been a teacher for 23 years and she started as a Primary school teacher and then did ESL teaching for eleven years. She went to university for a Bachelor of Arts degree and has done computer training. Anne does like working at CCNH and with other teachers and students. She enjoys working with other teachers and students to set up new projects and to get new ideas She does not like to do lots of paper work. We asked her if she found the noise of the traffic a problem. She told us that she is used to the traffic noise. The Council did a study of the pollution in the streets around Carlton and there is a lot of lead pollution. The Sewer vent nearby can be smelly also. Anne would like a nice, clean area but this is where her work is. At the CCNH on Thursdays lunch, Anne’s favourite meal is chicken wings and pasta. By Kevin and Joe

We did a survey of the students who come to the Carlton Contact Neighbourhood House to find out what they drink and their views about the use of the kitchen. We surveyed 34 students from Sandra’s, Panayota’s, Ruth’s, Glenys’ and Lynne’s classes. We found that most people have just
one cup of tea or coffee and that more people have coffee than tea. About
an even number of people have milk in their drink but more coffee
drinkers have sugar.
26 out of 34 people of the survey said that they clean their cup after themselves. The same number of people said that the kitchen is well equipped. Only 6 people use the oven and the microwave. Most people agreed that we need a bigger urn. About the same number of people would like the kitchen improved. There was a high number who would like to do a cooking class. Thank you to all those who participated in our survey and we hope it satisfies your curiosity. By Jim and the class.
