Notice what a great bit of Reading & Writing for Practical Purposes this activity is!

And that's before you've ever started writing an email...

You can get yourself a

*** FREE EMAIL ADDRESS ***

from

.

Read these instructions first, then click on the "HOTMAIL" logo above.

To get it, you will have to:

  1. invent a login name and password
  2. fill in a form, giving some details about yourself.
  3. confirm your password and login (or maybe choose a slightly different one if someone else has the same name)
  4. use your login and password to access your email on HOTMAIL's website.
  5. write down and LEARN the Hotmail web address so you can access your email from any computer with internet access and a web browser.

The only thing that really needs to be completely true is your name. This will appear on all the email that you send, so only put "Peter Pan" or "Margaret Thatcher" if you can live with this on all your messages to the rest of the world.

When you go to the HOTMAIL page you will see these buttons. Click on the button to sign up.

>

Once you get into your hotmail site, you will see a menu like this one on the left side of your screen.

Put a subject that will give the addressee a clue about what you're sending. Then click in the blank white space below and start writing, just as you would a letter or a quick note.

REPLYING TO AN EMAIL

To reply to an email you've just been reading, click on the "REPLY" button which is at the top AND the bottom of their message. Hotmail will automatically open a new composition window for you with the two addresses already in place.

GETTING HELP
