Prayer and spirituality for today's Christian
What is Madonna?
Madonna is a bi-monthly magazine of prayer and spirituality.
In a popular and accessible way, it offers readers a means of linking
faith and life and deepening their prayer.
Founded in 1897 by Fr Michael Watson SJ, Madonna was
written for people seeking to pattern their lives on the Spiritual
Exercises of St Ignatius Loyola. With the coming of Vatican II, Madonna
became a means of 'thinking and praying' with the post-conciliar Church.
In recent times, it has developed further to meet the deep hunger for
spiritual growth so evident in today's world.
In articles and personal stories, but most especially in the
reflections on the Church's daily scripture readings, Madonna
has developed an ever-growing, committed readership.
- "I can see what your readers prize about it: its intimacy. All
your readers and writers speak from their own prayerful experience in a
neighbourly way. They trust each other with their hearts."
Fr Edmund Campion, Catholic Institute of Sydney, Strathfield NSW.
