CAPO Newsletter - December 2001

Due to the fact that we haven't had a newsletter since December 2000, I thought it was about time to update everyone on some of the things that have recently happened.

This newsletter will include the following topics:

- Results from the World Championships
- Update regarding bench tops
- Information channels for future correspondence to WPC
- Latest issue of WPC Rule Book
- 2003 WPC World Championships
- 2004 WPC World Championships
- Annual Deadlift Challenge

As, and when, I receive information I shall send it out in a format similar to this. If you have anything you wish to submit, please forward it to me.

Results from the World Championships

Coral Quinell competed in the WPC World Championships in Cape Town in early November, and won the Womens Masters, 56kg class, with a total of 340kg. Congratulations Coral ... again!!

Sharon Waters has returned from her recent competition at the World's Strongest Woman held in South Africa. Although not bringing home a medal, Sharon says that the experience that she has gained is worth it's weight in gold.

Warren Rozen and Adrian Zalcman are competing in the World Cup in Germany this week. We wish them all the best, and look forward to hearing the results on their return to Australia.

Update regarding bench tops

Clarification has been sought from the WPC at the recent Annual General Meeting held in Cape Town regarding the design of the benchtops using velcro to "hold them together. The benchtops do not need to have the open edges joining at the back of the lifter, ie they can be open, however they must be held together using velcro straps. Obviously all other WPC rules will apply, as per the latest Rule Book.

Information channels for future correspondence to WPC

To ensure  information is communicated to all members, effective immediately,  ALL correspondence needs to be channeled through either the President or National Secretary. At the WPC AGM, it was noted that under no circumstances will any individual queries sent to the WPC President be answered individually, ie all communication must go through either the President or the National Secretary. Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.

Latest issue of WPC Rule Book

There will be a new issue of the WPC Rule Book expected early next year. Once copies have been sourced, their availability and price will be advised, and copies can be purchased.
