Emotional Intelligence

A popular idea is emotional intelligence. One interpretation of the term is being fully in the present moment, being aware of all your senses and body, and responding from your heart to what is happening around you.

The higher a persons emotional intelligence, the more revulsed they will be by circumcision, the less capable of being present at a circumcision and not intervening, and even less capable of performing one.

It is easy to think that a circumcisor is on automatic pilot when they are performing a mutilation and displaying very low emotional intelligence. On doctor performed mutilations for years, and never heard the babies cry. He writes that day he heard the cry and gave up the ritual.

People with low emotional intelligence may be more prone to having a hidden aggenda, including the acting out of sadistic impulses. High emotional intelligence means happiness, low emotional intelligence can lead to unhapinness. Happy people don't hurt or harm others.

As for a circumcisor who enjoys circumcising, its unlikely they will change. Why should they? They enjoy it and they get paid.

Circumcisors who don't like circumcision, could tune into their emotional intelligence and ask themselves why they don't like it. They might find if they are little more sensitive, they are absolutely disgusted by what they are doing.

High emotional intelligence requires high emotional honesty. A person can adopt all sorts of silly reasons so he doesn't feel bad about he is doing.

Sometimes emotional conflict happens when the heart conflicts with the mind. The mind and heart need to work together.

What are some indicators that a circumcisor may have low emotional intelligence? Gets angry if challenged over circumcision. Says babies don't feel (a lie and a projection). Conceals information (eg. known risks) Performs unnecessary operations.

If you a circumcisor, one approach is to be totally in the here and now as you do the act. The more and more here you are, the harder it is to harm someone else. It is never too late to stop circumcizing.
