The
Probus Club Of Canterbury Inc.
The
men's PROBUS CLUB OF CANTERBURY extends a cordial invitation to all those men
now in the ranks of the retired and the semi-retired to consider joining our
Club.
Probus
is an association of retired and semi-retired people who join together in
clubs, the basic purpose of which is to provide regular opportunities for them
to keep their minds active, expand their interests and to enjoy the fellowship
of new friends. Probus Clubs are not service clubs, do not engage in
fundraising and are secular and non political.
The Probus Club of
Canterbury meets monthly on the third Wednesday of each month from 10.00 a.m.
until 12 noon, at St Aidan’s church hall, Balwyn. Guest speakers, embracing a
wide variety of interesting subjects, are normally a feature of meetings. In
addition to its regular meetings, the Club has Special Interest Groups for
those interested in learning more about, or sharing views on, computing and
investing. Throughout the year outings are arranged for those members wishing
to participate, and these include Theatre Lunches and tours of manufacturing
sites ( previous visits have included Toyota, Herald Sun etc.). The annual
membership fee for the Club is $35.00.
Although
the Probus Club of Canterbury is a men's club it is emphasised that the Club
welcomes wives or partners to attend as visitors any of its regular meetings
and to participate fully in all its outings.
Membership
is not unduly restricted by location. Many members live outside Canterbury,
widely dispersed in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne throughout Boroondara and
beyond. A recent check revealed one or more of their addresses in Ashburton,
Balwyn, Box Hill, Brighton, Burwood, Camberwell, Hawthorn, Mont Albert, Surrey
Hills and Wantirna.
For
further information and expressions of interest please contact the
Club
Secretary, Peter Judge (telephone: 98171158).
