History of CAEX Bushwalking Club

CAEX Bushwalking Club was formed in July 1982 by ex-members of a Bushwalking For Pleasure course conducted at the Council of Adult Education (CAE) (hence our name, CAE X - members). From 1986 to 1998 the club conducted Bushwalking courses at the CAE itself and many of our members joined the club after completing one of these courses. The club now has no connection with the CAE.

The club has grown over the years and now has approximately 60 members from all walks of life and from a wide range of age groups. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, social and welcoming club and particularly welcome new members with little or no previous bushwalking experience.

The club caters to a wide range of interests and skill levels. The walks program aims to offer a range of easy to medium walks. Most of our walks are day walks, which are held on most Sundays throughout the year. More strenuous overnight walks and extended walks are occasionally offered. The club also has a strong social element, both on walks and other social activities such as restaurant nights and BBQ’s, which are held on a regular basis.
