Background

The Buoyancy Foundation was established in 1967 in response to a request from intravenous drug users. Since then it has continued to respond to the many changing needs of drug users as well as others affected by drug use. Buoyancy's primary aim is to provide a client-focussed accessible and non-judgemental counselling service. It promotes informed decision making through education and consultation. It endeavours to ensure an effective, quality service through continual evaluation of client and community.

Services

  • Support through couselling to persons involved with illicit drug use.
  • This can be at the Centre, by phone or our cousellors can come to you.
  • Advice and support to parents, relatives and friends of illicit drug users.
  • Referals to treatment centres or other agencies providing appropriate rehabilitation opportunites.
  • Counselling for Methadone programmes.
  • Court reports for advocacy.
  • Needle and syringe exchange.
  • Community education.


    Buoyancy is staffed by a team of qualified and experienced counsellors
