Action at Last
John Olsen, Vice-President
The Men’s Shed contractors moved on to the site on 21st September and despite the welcome rain we had in the early weeks, they have made great progress
At the same time separate grounds contractors have been on site, battling the elements, creating quite a mess but making very good progress.
It has been great to see so much work going on at Gplace.

Before any site works could commence on the building, we had to have essential services such as power and water connected to the building. This was completed within the first 3 days of the contract. |

Community Development Grant
The Gplace Consortium has received a City Council Community Development Grant for approximately $3,000, to assist in setting up the Shed with a range of new tools. Such is the expense of tools we are going to have to source a range of tools not covered by this Grant, from other sources.

The Completed Shed
When it is finished, the insulated Shed will be fitted put with work benches, tool storage, tea & coffee making facilities, and its own tables and chairs. It will be both a place to work and relax. |
Perhaps you can help?
We are appealing to anyone who might have any of the following items in good condition, that you would be prepared to donate to the Gplace Men’s Shed. In particular we are seeking woodwork benches, a lockable steel storage cupboard and a range of hand tools that are still useable. These items would be put to good use by U3A members and other groups in the Consortium.
If you do have any of the above items and are prepared to donate them, please contact John Olsen

U3A and the Shed 2010
From early 2010, we are hoping to begin our use of the Shed, by locating our Woodwork classes there. Those of you who have been hanging out for the re-commencement of Woodwork, watch out for notices in the not too distant future. |
