Our
Work in Australia
Vocational
Service
The basis of Rotary and the impetus for its formation was Vocational Service. Our founder Paul Harris said:
"of all the hundred and one ways in which men can make themselves useful to society, undoubtedly the most
available and often most effective are within the spheres of their own
occupations".
Our Club supports Vocational Service in the following ways:
- Vocational Visits
to members workplaces to see and hear all about their profession.
- Shine On Awards. Nomination by recognition of outstanding service, by persons with disabilities who disregard their disabilities in reaching their goals to serve others.
- The Royce Abbey Awards Program.
Recognizes members in their early years in Rotary who show enthusiasm and commitment to the ideals of Rotary. Each award encourages the Rotary Club to contribute $1,000.00 to the Royce and Jean Abbey Cultural Ambassadorial Scholarship Program through the Rotary Foundation that is available to young men and women in developing countries.
- Bursary Award of $250.00.
For a Year 7 student at a local school to help further their education.
- District 9800 Cluster Club Trivial Pursuit Challenge. A social night for interaction between Cluster Clubs.
