New Generations
The Rotary Club of Brighton Beach, Inc. works with Schools and local agencies in implementing programs that motivate, educate and provide real life experiences for the youth in our community
by sponsoring youth attendance at Development Programs such as:
- RYPEN. Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment - a weekend residential seminar with the principal aim of communicating to young people aged between 14 and 17 a series of ideas, issues and social experiences that will assist them in forming their own values and moral standards. Rotaractors play a pivotal role as facilitators at each camp.
- RYLA. Rotary Youth Leadership Award - a week long residential camp for young people aged 18 to 25, enabling them to come together and gain a better understanding of their assets and the qualities and strengths of others. The RYLA philosophy embraces the idea that concepts such as self-awareness, leadership,
responsibility, choice, listening, facilitation, co-operation and community
are relevant to young people. The program is delivered by young people for young people.
- MUNA. Model United Nations Assembly - a weekend program where a team of two Year 11 students represent a country, adopting that
country's stance and national dress, over the course of the Assembly debating a number of resolutions.
We also co-sponsor a local teacher under the
Youth Suicide Awareness Program, in training to be able to identify youth in crisis by undertaking of a two-year Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Health and Welfare Course, run by the University of Melbourne in conjunction with the Royal Children's Hospital.
