Little Athletics is an organisation run by parents.  Many  parents have never competed in athletics themselves but find that they enjoy learning about the sport whilst helping their children to learn new skills.

At Brighton the emphasis is on Family, Fun and Fitness and in this context the order is important since without the contributions of Families we cannot possibly achieve the other goals.

The success of Little Athletics depends entirely on parents acting as officials.  There are many ways that families can assist both on Saturday mornings and throughout the year.

Remember.... parents duty contributes points to the

Little Athletes Recognition awards

Each week of parental duty earns points for their children.

Equipment Setup This duty involves the setting up of athletic equipment prior to the commencement of the Saturday program.  Parents assisting with setup duty are only required at the Dendy Park oval from 7:30am through to 9am.
Equipment Packup This duty involves the packing up of athletic equipment after it is no longer required for the Saturday program.  Parents assisting with packup duty are not required at the Dendy Park oval until 11am.  Packup is normally completed before 12:30pm.
Canteen Parents assisting here either help with the barbeque or serve at the canteen window.  Parents must be available between 8:30am - 10:30am OR 10:30am - 12:30pm.
Marshalling Age marshals escort a group of children from event to event as well as checking behaviour, hats, sunscreen, etc.  Duty is from 8:45am until 12 noon.
Event Operation Track and field events must be manned from 8:45am until 12 noon.  Each event requires more than one person as there are a variety of tasks that ensure the events run smoothly and safely.  Arena managers, coaches, team managers and other parents will be around if necessary to show you how easy it is to help.
First Aid This duty runs from 8:45am to 12 noon and involves being available to attend to any person injured at the centre.  Parents assisting in this duty must be trained in First Aid procedures.
