Congratulations to all our athletes who competed at Frankston - they performed wonderfully, with many contributing to our huge number of PB's over the weekend.  In addition, some new Outside Centre Records were set across a range of events.

24 athletes qualify for State Track & Field Championships in 45 events - resulting from our performances at Frankston, we have our largest team at State for several years (around 50% more athletes and events).  We hope they have a great time at Bendigo - lets bring back another batch of PB's, Outside Centre Records and maybe even some medals?!

State Multi-Event Championships - this weekend 12 of our athletes are off to Albury for the State Multi-Event Championships.  At "Multis" the athletes compete in a pentathlon with 100m, 80-100m Hurdles, 800m, Long Jump and Discus.  Again, this is our biggest participation for many years - best wishes for a great time and top performances.

Thanks to all parents for doing duty at Region - especially those who rearranged other commitments, did extra sessions, or did duty on the day their child was not competing.  Without your assistance, events such as Championships could not take place.

Coaching Sessions at Dendy Park will continue up until the State Championships (click for details).

Remaining dates for summer season - only 3 programs left for the season.  Saturday 1st March, Friday 7th March (twilight starts at 6pm sharp) and Saturday 15th March.  As a number of key people will be away at Championships, we'll need everyone to hop in and help as much as possible on these programs.

Presentation Day, AGM and Breakup - because of an early Easter, this day will be Saturday 5th April. We'll have a fun program for the athletes while the AGM is on (9am start) and then the Centre and Club presentations - remember to put this key date on your calendar!

Elections and Nominations - all positions within the club become vacant at the AGM and some current office bearers (including our President, Alan Wilkes) will not be available next season.  A nomination form is available  (click   ) and we welcome nominations from anyone who would like to contribute to the running of the Centre for the benefit of our athletes.  Nominations close on Friday 7th March (our twilight program).  If you have any questions, please talk to your Club President who can either help you or refer you to the appropriate person.  If only one person nominates by closing date they will be elected.  If there are no nominations for a role, nominations will be called at the AGM.  Remember, if positions are left vacant it's our athletes who are most affected!

Break-In at the Clubrooms - during this week our clubrooms have been broken into and some significant damage and loss has occurred.  A computer has been stolen, the coffee machine and kitchen cupboards were damaged and eggs were spread across the floors.  Brighton police attended and are doing a thorough investigation and Bayside Council has been notified

Great Results from Victorian Youth Championships - Cameron Menzies (U14), 1st in Discus and Shot Put;  Sidonie Lowe (U16), 6th in Shot Put, 7th in Discus and 8th in High Jump.  Former Brighton Little Athlete, Georgia Drover (U18), 3rd in 100m and 5th in 200m.  Congratulations all!!

What is 63 Seconds? Apart from being a great time for the 400 metres, it is the name of our new Brighton Little Athletics Newsletter and the idea is that it will only take about 63 seconds for you to read it!  You will be emailed a link periodically during the season and the newsletter will contain all the important details that you need to know.  We hope you find it helpful!
