A
message from your Team Manager - Debbie McCann
Dear State
Relay Competitors and Families,
Firstly, Happy New Year to you all. I hope
your Christmas and New Year festivities were nothing short of
wonderful.
I just wish to reflect on and offer
congratulations to all our State Relay Teams on your fabulous
“team spirit” as you competed at Olympic Park in the State Relay
Championships last December. I’m sure that you would all agree
that the day was a little less frantic than the Regional Event
which allowed us all to demonstrate our 'Team Brighton'
camaraderie as we cheered on all our team members.
The nine Brighton teams ran their hearts
out on the day and all the hours invested into coaching was
evident. I hope this was a memorable experience for you
all and that you remember it for a long time to come. Special
mention must be made of our under 9 girls, 4x100m team,
comprising of Dana Pjanic, Tess Mowat, Natalie Nyaguy and Rhea
Schreuder who qualified for the final of their event. Well done
girls. Our reserves for this event also deserve a mention as
although they did not run on this day they honoured their
commitment and were ready and prepared to step in should the
need arise. A reminder to all competitors and families that
photos were taken at this event and you can view these on the
Kidsklix website:
www.kidsklix.com.au Event code:
'lary0007'. While not every one of our participating athletes
has had an image captured, there are some fabulous images of
those who did.
Again to the parents and grandparents, your
love, encouragement and support of the children has assisted and
enabled them to commit to the whole 'relay experience'.
For this I say many thanks and I hope you were as proud as I was
of your athlete’s enthusiasm and effort and that you were
equally excited to see them as they ran around Olympic Park.
I also wish to acknowledge those who nominated and performed a
duty at this event. Your contribution helped make this
particular Championship run, as we wish all could run, on time.
The support of Jill Mowat who acted as Assistant Team Manager
and Andrew MacFarlane as Officials Manager was welcomed and most
appreciated. Thank you.
On behalf of the athletes and parents a big
thank you too to Ian Scott for his expertise in coaching the
athletes of all the relay techniques. Ian continually
demonstrates his dedication and love for helping young athletes
develop skills and for this our children are truly lucky.
Now that the Relay component of our 2007-2008
competition season is over, we are now preparing for our next
event, the Regional Track and Field competition, to be run on
the 16th and 17th February. Approximate timing of the Track and
Field events for those of you who have nominated is available
from our latest
63 Seconds
newsletter. I look forward to seeing you all back at Dendy Park
from Saturday, 19th January.
Thank you,
Debbie McCann
Team Manager.
